How To Update on Roav VIVA part 3

Keeping the phone in a safe place
One of the first challenges I ran into was where to put the phone to where I could see but not present a possible safety hazard. I had looked at cell phone mounts before but was left wanting. One of the more common ones is the type that clips onto a vent. I wasn’t really thrilled with subjecting the phone to higher levels of cooling or heating.
After doing a fair amount of looking, I found a mount that didn’t require the use of a vent and met my other criteria. The iOttie Easy One Touch 4 offered the ability mount on the windshield and on a smooth surface on the dash of my truck. Since some municipalities get a little too concerned with the amount of windshield that is block, I wanted the ability to be able to use the mount in either location. In my case, I ended up using the disc that allowed me to use the mount in a place lower than the windshield and still do what I needed. For those that travel some, iOttie offers a "re-usable" mounting disc so that you can move it between vehicles (such as the occasional rental vehicle) with much hassle.
The mount is easy to get the phone in and out of. The mount quickly grabs the phone securely the moment to put it in place. That in combination with the Roav Viva's charging capability makes the two a very useful combination. The initial location I picked for the mounting disc seems to be the place I will likely leave it.
IOS or Android
This could turn into a religious debate but I don’t want it to be. When I first started my review of the Roav VIVA, my daily driver phone was the iPhone 6 Plus. While that is several generations back, in what little looking I had done at the newer iPhone models, there wasn’t anything that got me past the point of making a decision of going with a newer phone. My other phone is an Android based Google Nexus 6. Granted it is getting a little age on it as well but as with the iPhone, I hadn't seen anything that make the justification with going to a newer model. That changed when I gave the Samsung Galaxy S9+ a try.
I have been using the Samsung Galaxy S9+ for almost a week at the time I am writing this. I had deal with Android phone off and on for several years but hadn't really found anything that gave me enough reason to change what was my daily driver. One thing that I have noticed in the week that I have been using the Galaxy S9+ is that I am close to having more of a hands free phone than what I would have expected. Samsung's Bixby has been a help in this area. If the phone has unlocked when I put it in the mount, I can have Bixby open the Roav VIVA app. From there I can have Roav VIVA open Waze to get me started on my journey.
The thing that I have noticed the most is that lack of "fighting" for lack of a b ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUhzjxl6PlM
