How to setup Plex/Live-TV & DVR

These steps assume you already have gone through my previous videos on setting up a Plex Media Server and the initial setup.

1. Open a two tabs in your web browser a. On tab 1, go to Plex.TV and enter your login credentials b. On tab 2, go to my.hdhomerun.com and enter your login credentials
2. On the my.hdhomerun.com tab a. Click on the HDHomeRun tuner you are working with b. Click on the System Status tab c. Make note of the ip address of your tuner
3. On the Plex.TV tab a. Click on the drop down error to make sure you have selected the correct Plex server b. Click on Settings c. Click on Live TV and DVR d. Click on Set Up Plex DVR e. Click on your HDHomeRun tuner i. A check box should now appear on the tuner ii. Click on the continue button f. You will be selected with the channels that your HDHomeRun knows about i. If the list doesn’t look right, click on the Scan Channels button ii. If the looks looks ok, click on the Continue button g. Verify that the language you want to use is listed h. Enter the zip code for where you are located so that Plex can begin downloading a program guide i. Click on the Continue button j. A progress circle will appear and give you the progress of downloading the guide k. By default, all channels that were found active will be listed. If there are any listed that you don’t want to watch, uncheck them l. Click on the Continue button m. The program guide will now be downloaded i. This may take a while depending on the number of stations in your area ii. An updated guide will be downloaded during your Plex Media Servers maintenance window n. You can either click on Close to continue or View Program Guide to start seeing what is available. o. When you click Close, your tuner is now listed and showing how far along it is in the download process p. You will now need to create a Library where you recorded TV Shows will be placed i. Create a directory on the drive in the Plex Server where you want the TV Shows placed ii. Click on Library iii. Move your cursor to the right and click on the Plus symbol iv. Click on TV Shows v. Unless you want to change the name of the Library, click on Next vi. Click on browse for media folder and select the folder you created earlier vii. Click on Add viii. Click on Add Library

You can now start scheduling recordings of your favorite TV Shows.
