How to Setup of Plex Media Server on a Mac Mini

1. Make sure that the Mac Mini has the latest patches applied
2. Install VNC client a machine other than the Mac Mini so you manage the headless device
3. Create an account on Plex.TV
4. Configure the Mac to automatically login on boot up
5. Record the account credentials in a password manager
6. Login to the Plex.TV site and download the Plex Media Server app for Mac
7. Double click on plex app zip file
8. Double click on the extracted plex app
9. Tap on the open button
10. Tap on the Move to Applications Folder button
11. When Plex is running you will notice an additional symbol that looks like the Greater Than symbol in the upper hand corner of the screen
12. Modify the configuration to allow the Plex app to start when the Mac Mini boots up a. Tap on the Plex icon b. Select the Open at Login button
13. To help Plex automatically catalog any new items upload to it, do the following - a. Tap on the Plex Icon in the upper right hand corner b. Tap on Preferences c. Tap on Library d. Check the boxes beside the following options i. Update my library automatically ii. Run a partial scan when changes are detected
14. On Your Roku a. Install the Plex client on your Roku b. Open the Plex client c. Enter your Plex login credentials d. Select the Plex Media server you just installed
