How to setup a Hot Spare to an existing pool in FreeNAS in your SmartHome

Adding a Hot Spare Drive to your FreeNAS server is like having a little extra insurance. It doesn't do much for you on a day to day basis, but when you need it, it is priceless. When a drive fails in a raid configuration, the level of protection you had doesn’t come back until the drive is replaced and the array is resilvered/rebuilt. With a hot spare, the time to the protection being restored is reduce to the time it takes for resilvering/rebuilding.
