You may have some or the other AVR boards which do not support USB, here I will show you how to program such AVR microcontrollers using an Arduino board as a programmer. Download the Arduino IDE from here: https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software Requirements: An AVR board An Arduino board Some jumper wires A USB A to B cable A computer or a laptop Arduino IDE

You might notice that the AVR board has a USB port too, but an error message is shown whenever it is connected to the computer directly.
