Putting in a Pool is NOT a Good Investment
Stewardship
Pools are great! They are tons of fun, super refreshing, and a great place to make awesome memories with your family, but is putting in a pool a good investment? Some people think paying $40,000 on a pool will increase their home value by at least that much. Truthfully, in Arizona, most real estate agents agree that a pool only bumps the sale price by about $10,000. The reality is, adding a pool is not a good way to increase your net worth. Instead, your money is better spent on a fresh coat of paint, upgraded amenities in the home, and actually investing places other than in your home, like a good mutual fund. Putting in a pool should not be motivated by potential profit, but if you and your family love to splash and swim, then it could be a great way to make your home a place you love even more. And if you can afford it, then go for it! Our homes are meant to be enjoyed, they're not just vehicles for future wealth.
Here we have a video about the fact that your home isn't even your greatest asset: https://youtu.be/5D-YMnioOe0 While you're thinking about your net worth, we also compared paying off your mortgage early vs investing, watch that here: https://youtu.be/LcTWJlHvBFs
