Performing Kyma Sound Design with the iPad and Kyma Control App #shorts

A #shorts version of a Kyma Multigrid sound effects performance. This video features the colorful dots that appear when my fingers touch my iPad.

Among the many things Kyma excels at is algorithmic sound generation. Here I built a Kyma Sound in the Multigrid which takes individual folders of samples, indeterminately grabs a sample when the iPad is touched, then does arithmetic on that particular sample, and makes it expressive based on my performance using the iPad. This can happen up to 10 times simultaneously (for each of my fingers) on each track in the Multigrid which uses its own bank of samples. The possibilities are astronomical while still being focussed enough to be useful, and that's before my more nuanced performance on the iPad. Oh, and all of this is happening live, in real-time.
