Built between 1698 and 1704, the furnace formed part of a trade syndicate in Yorkshire that centered on the Spencers of Cannon Hall. It operated until 1741 with Charcoal as fuel. This location is believed to have many different types of hauntings. The spirit of a man walking his pet dog has been reported by many visitors. Strange floating blue lights that float around the engine house often capture the eyes of passers by. The most mysterious haunting however is the apparition of a man that is often seen working at the blast furnace. The are numerous more tales of paranormal activity that is said to occur at Rockley furnace.
