Hello and welcome to this Microsoft OneNote for beginners tutorial. OneNote functions as a digital notebook that can save and synchronize your work. As we go, I will show you some of the most important features and how you can get started. I will explain everything beginner-friendly, but I’ll also make sure not to waste your time.

We start by adding a few notes inside a page. With the container surrounding the note, I will show you how to resize it or move it around. The double arrow lets you resize it, while the 4 arrows let you move it. In the Home ribbon you get all the standard Microsoft text formatting options. You can change the font or select different text size and so on.

Microsoft OneNote is king when it comes to providing structure. That is why we spend quite a bit of time on this topic in this beginners tutorial. So, at the top of your structure you have the notebook. In most cases this covers one or more categories. For example, an entire category can be “Work”. Inside the notebook you have sections.

Inside this section you can add pages. An example could be “Board of directors”. But of course, we have more than one meeting. So, on the right side you can add a page by clicking on the plus sign. You can drag the pages over each other to adjust the order. This can provide you with a way to organize effectively to your own needs.

Next in this OneNote for beginners, I'll show you some basics about sections and notebooks. You can add multiple sections inside a notebook. After that, we will insert an Excel file in OneNote in a few different ways. Then there are a few nice to know features as the “draw” feature and the video inserting feature.

The next part can’t be left out in this OneNote For Beginners tutorial. I'll now tell you about synchronizing or sharing your OneNote content. Sharing content is done so on the “notebook” level which is the top layer as we saw earlier. To do so, you click on file, here you can see all your available notebooks. Select “invite people to this notebook” and then you can type in the email address of the person that you want to send it to.

OneNote works perfectly on Windows, Mac, Androids, and iOS. There is also a web version that is almost similar to the Windows version. This should cover the basics to get you started. I hope you enjoyed this beginners tutorial for Microsoft OneNote.
