In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to fix the Davinci resolve not opening issue.
The first method seems to work for quite a few people unfortunately it didn’t work for me but it’s a good place to start. Right-click on your Windows taskbar and select Task Manager.
Here you want to end all of the processes that are related to Davinci Resolve. This can be Resolve itself but it can also be a process like Project Manager.
So, click on the process and select End task. Once you did this for all related processes you can restart Resolve once more. Hopefully, this was enough to fix your start-up problem.
The next method is the one that solved the issue for me. Davinci Resolve tends to have a lot of issues depending on your graphics card and its version.
Click on the Windows search bar and search for Graphics Settings. Click on it.This opens a menu where you can specify which graphics card or performance you want to set for a certain application. We are going to add Davinci Resolve. To do this, click on browse.
Here you need to navigate to the .exe file. For me it is at C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve. Select Resolve.exe and click on Add.
Click on Options to continue. The graphics preference needs to be changed to Power Saving. It is probably set on System default which is going to select the NVIDIA graphics card. By changing it to power saving settings you are going to use the Intel graphics card. Don’t forget to click on Save.
Alternatively you can try to update your graphics card but this wasn’t the solution for me. You should now be able to open Davinci Resolve. Don’t be alarmed if it takes long to open.
This concludes our how to fix Davinci Resolve not opening tutorial.
