How to Download Windows 11 ISO File

With the official launch of Windows 11, Microsoft added the Installation Media tool and direct ISO download to their website.

#1 Installation Media Tool

To use the Installation Media tool, click on Download Now. This is a small download so should be fast to complete. You need to accept the licence terms if you want to continue. Click on Accept. The media creation tool looks to be the same as it was for Windows 10.

Language and edition might be pre-set depending on your location. If you want to change it, uncheck the box next to “Use the recommended options for this PC”. Click on next. After that, you can choose if you want to set it up for a USB flash drive or directly create the ISO file. Select ISO file.

Next, you need to pick a location to store the file, click on save. Once you do, the download and creation of the ISO file starts and you are good to go after a few minutes. You should be able to use this file even on unsupported systems.

#2 Download Windows 11 ISO

The second option is to directly download the ISO file from the Microsoft website. To do this, select Windows 11 in the dropdown menu.

Click on Download. Doing this should take you to the language settings. I recommended selecting English. Click on Confirm. After that, you should have the option to download the 64-bit version. Click on 64-bit download.

The Windows 11 ISO file is quite large. It is slightly above 5GB which is larger than usual so you might have to wait a few minutes.
