In this short tutorial, I’m going to show you how to create a shutdown and hybrid shutdown button in Windows 10.
We start by creating a new shortcut. To create the shutdown shortcut button, right-click anywhere on your desktop and select New - Shortcut. For the location of the item, you can enter the following: shutdown /s /t 0
This is the standard code to perform an old-school shutdown. Meaning that the fast start-up feature isn’t activated for your next boot. So apps that weren’t closed before the shutdown won’t automatically open up again after startup.
Click on Next to continue. Click on Finish to create the shortcut. Now we are going to choose a pictogram for the button. Right-click on the newly created button and select Properties.
Next click on Change Icon. You can pick whichever you prefer. I’m going for the traditional shutdown button. Once you’ve made your choice, click on Ok, followed by clicking on Ok once more.
How to Creat Hybrid Shutdown Button in Windows 10
Next, we are going to create the hybrid shutdown button. In this case, Windows 10 keeps a file for next start up that is going to relaunch apps that were open before shutting down the PC.
Creating the hybrid button is almost identical to the normal button. The only difference is in the command. So again, right-click somewhere on your desktop and select new - shortcut. This time enter shutdown /s /hybrid /t 0
The other steps are the same as before. Note that, in some versions of Windows 10 the hybrid shutdown button won’t work properly and it functions as a normal shutdown.
This concludes our how to create shutdown buttons in windows 10 tutorial.
