Hello and welcome to this Excel tutorial. Today I’m going to show you how to create a basic data entry form without VBA. These are useful when you need to fill in a lot of manual data, and you want to do this in a user-friendly way.
Next, we are going to take a closer look at each function. This includes: create new, delete, restore, find previous, find next, and criteria.
The Criteria button acts as the search function in our form. When you hit this button, you switch to empty header fields. You can use one or more of these fields to search for a specific record in your table. So let’s say that we are searching for countries with the Euro as a currency.
When I hit search, the criteria function shows the complete record of Germany. I can go back and forth like this and find all countries with the euro. In a small datasheet like this, you don’t need this function, but in big data sheets with lots of similar records, you might find it very useful.
Next in this Excel data entry froms tutorial, criteria also works with wildcards. So, for example, we want to search for all languages that start with Eng. To do this, you use an asterisk symbol. In the same way, it is possible to use smaller or greater than signs for returning numbers.
Enough about Criteria, let’s continue with data validation in this how to create Excel data entry forms tutorial. These forms are compatible with data validation.
Here you can add any restrictions as you would otherwise add restrictions for excel values. Make sure to save your changes.
