Welcome to this short Windows 10 tutorial. This time I will show you how to check your RAM and other hardware specs. Of course, there are multiple ways to do this but I’ll start with the easiest one first.
We right-click on the Windows logo in the bottom left corner. Next, we click on system and voila, a new window opens.
Here you can see the total amount of RAM, the processor specs, if you have a 64-bit or 32-bit installation, Windows specifications, and a few things more if you scroll down. For instance, most PC’s have room for additional RAM.
Once you have installed the extra RAM, you can check it in this window to see if it is installed properly.
The next method to check hardware specs is equally easy to open but perhaps a bit more difficult to read. To do this, we right-click on the Windows toolbar and select the task manager option.
Task manager is well-known for ending processes in error but that isn’t the only thing to do here. In Task Manager you have a few different tabs.
Click on the Performance tab to see details about memory, CPU, graphics card, and a few more. In the memory details, you can check the total amount of RAM, how much is in use, and how much is available. Similarly, you can see details about the CPU as well. As the name it implies, this tab is excellent to monitor your PC’s performance.
The last method is the old school way to check RAM and hardware specs that I used back in the day. First, we open a file explorer window. Next, we right-click on This PC and select properties.
This opens the system overview, which you can also reach by navigating from the control panel. Here, you see most of the specs that we saw in the two earlier methods, but you also get some details on the manufacturer and the model.
There are of course other ways to check hardware specs in Windows 10, but these three are easy and fast, so I chose to show these in this tutorial. I personally use Task manager most of the time, but try them all out and see what works best for you.
I hope you got some value out of this short how to check RAM and other hardware specs in Windows 10 tutorial. I'm inspired by content creators as TechGumbo and Technology for Teachers and Students.
