Welcome to this tutorial. Today I’m going to show you how to create an Excel web connection. We extract data from a webpage and refresh this automatically. You can do this by using Excel’s Power Query tool.

Power Query is a data connection technology that you can use to connect and refine data sources and transform the resulting data.

We take a look at the web view which can confirm that you are working with the correct data.

Next, we take a look at the power query editor in Excel. With this, we transform the query to our needs. You can remove columns from the web data, rename columns, transform columns, …

Finally, we show the Query Settings side panel of the Power Query Editor. We open the Power Query Editor again by clicking on our table in the Queries and Connections side panel.

Here you can see an overview of all steps that we applied. When you click on each step one by one, you can follow how the table changed each step from the source data table to our final one.
