Starts off with Double, Walk, Single. Before you know it, it’s Bases Loaded, Nobody out.
It’s GO TIME!!! As I stated in the last video, what is the mindset for making pitches in this situation?
At the end of the video, we are going to find out if Severino executed as such. He is now facing the bottom of the line up, yet these are still prominent hitters.

The 1st Batter to step into the burning diamond of fire, Miguel Sano This was a 7 pitch at bat. You will get the condensed version here. Severino is attacking him with fastballs up and Sliders down. These pitch Charts show us why. The fastball/Slider combo has up to a 13MPH differential. He got away with a hanging Slider here. Can’t dwell upon it! It’s on to the next pitch. That pitch is there. You gotta give him that. Keep challenging him and win the battle. Mile High Popup. Infield fly There is the 1st out.

2nd Batter - Marwin Gonzalez.

1st Pitch Slider, 86. Down and In for a Ball

1-0 Slider at 87 fouled off

1-1 Slider 87 Swung on through it

1-2 Slider again at 88, Same spot. Embarrassing, Reaching Swing! Gotta Love it!

All Sliders here in this at bat. As for the eye test, Gonzalez was on deck while Sano was batting, seeing fastballs up and Sliders down from Severino. Gonzalez only got Sliders down. Unfortunately. for him, that is out of his control.

3rd Batter - Jake Cave.

1st Pitch Slider away for a Ball

1-0 Slider again, at 86. Foul

1-1 FB 98 outer half for a Called Strike. After 2 Sliders, the check swing shows that Cave knew he had no chance to catch up to the heater.

1-2 FB at 98 Up and In Fouled off

1-2 again FB Up at 98. Trying to get him to chase, Cave Laid off for a ball.

2-2 After Seeing back to back fastballs up in the zone, Froze him up on a Slider! BOOM!!!!

Severino did it! He pulled off the Houdini act.
...And the ball never left the infield!!! That’s how it is done! That is the Mindset when making pitches in this adverse situation. He responded to the situation and made his pitches without giving in to the hitter. Just goes to show, When you pitch proactively, the results will be in your favor.
