fabricate trunking 90 degree bend from two 45 degree bends
Simon's Channel
Hello, Here is the end result of my 90 degree bend attempt. From two 45 degree bends in 50mm x 50mm steel galvanised trunking. The end result is almost 90 degrees, its out by only a small amount. For a first try I am happy. I am still looking at methods I could use to cut the metal quickly and accurately. I had been using a cutting disc and grinder which is very fast and requires more control. Damage can be done with the grinder, it requires a power source unless you have a battery tool which I do not. More care is required than the hand saw as it is a dangerous tool to use. There is more filing as well as the cuts leave sharp edges that do need removing. I would strongly recommend tough gloves when using a grinder. For this job I used a close quarter saw that I bought from B & Q for £5.50 (ish). It came with a decent hacksaw blade, 24 teeth 300mm, Magnuson brand. I am thinking about getting some of those blades as this one has held up quite well. Avoid the 30 for a £1 saw blades as they brake quickly. Here I used rivets, three different sizes. Started with the large but found the rivet tool was sticking so I changed to smaller rivets. The smallest broke when I started to tighten it up. This is just a practice piece and I intend to do more as I go. ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GIHMO0_0Ig
