About 30 years ago, when we played cricket, hitting a six in a cricket match was an event… but these days, it is normal.. Do you know that Analytics, IoT and ML has a huge role to play in changing face of Cricket?
e.g. There are sensors on a cricket bat that would generate data for every stroke a batsman plays. It has storage onboard to retain the session information, and wifi connectivity to enable real-time data transfer.
A batsman can really improve their strike if they were able to know: Maximum bat speed: This is measured between the back-lift and the follow-through. Time to Impact: The time between the back-lift of the bat through to the impact of the ball. Bat Speed at Impact: It will also measure the bat speed when it hits the ball. Follow-through angle: This measures the change in the angle of the bat after it has hit the ball. Impact angle: It also measures the angle of the bat at the moment of impact. Back-lift angle: This measures the angle of the bat within the back-lift when the ball approaches.
With the help of machine learning algorithms and simulations, a player can optimise his stroke and hit a six whenever he wants.
