Does Marking Up A Review As An Article Make It Lose Some Of Its Review Authority?

In episode 202 of our weekly Hump Day Hangouts (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rapy_gx5tgA), one viewer asked if one should use an article or a review schema markup for the pages of a site that are mostly reviews of brands.

The exact question was:

Hi Guys. My site is siloed with the top category pages mostly being reviews of brands. A few pages rank in the position 1 or 2 for “Brand review” but around position 5 or 6 for the brand name.

I am adding markup to those pages and wondering if it is better to mark them up as Articles or Reviews? If marking it up as an article- does it lose some of its review authority and vise versa? Thanks.
