Chasing the perfect mirror surface finish on an old manual lathe

I'm still haunted by the fact that I wasn't able to get a nice mirror surface finish when boring out an ER25 collet chuck on my vintage lathe. So I'm trying again and again till there are no more option left and I either win or loose.
