My New GNU/Linux Phone is Coming Soon! (Pinephone)

I just ordered my Pinephone from Pine64. This is the Braveheart edition and it is slated to arrive in December! Let's talk about what you can do with this phone and what you cannot since it doesn't come with an OS for this early adopter series. Let's see what they did different from Purism and the Librem 5.

Some new facts that are not on the video and passed on to me directly by TL@Pine64 -- Pine64 Baseband and Wifi uses USB bus. This is very good news since it means the firmware on those modules do not share the memory of the main board. It also explains the simplicity of the kill switches. Just cut off USB.

The OS is started via SD card just like a Raspberry PI. There is already a disk image of Ubuntu Touch here https://ci.ubports.com/job/rootfs/job/rootfs-pinephone/

In theory you could have several SD cards with different OS's INCLUDING ANDROID. So to change OS, just change the SD card. So if you really need to use Waze on Google Apps, you could. But then you can remove it after use and go back to Linux.
