Cop Faces Consequences for Use of Force Against Pets

Naomi Karavani reports on a new development in police brutality cases. In a rare move a judge is holding a police officer accountable for unnecessary violence against a dog. A Minneapolis police officer shot two dogs while responding to a false alarm, and though the dogs survived, the cop’s immunity did not. The judge allowed the officer to be sued by the dogs’ owner for medical expenses. This ruling comes at a time when the Minneapolis police force was caught on body cameras joking about “hunting people.”
