Intro to Package Management on Debian and Ubuntu based systems with APT CLI Package Manager!
Hedia
Hi guys, Hedia here
Today I am going over how to run system updates on your Linux system using the Apt package manager. This package manager is exclusive to Debian and Ubuntu based systems, and I am demonstrating it's functionality on a LinuxMint machine.
I will go over how to how to install different versions of package using apt policy to scan for multiple versions of the same package. I will go over how to install a certain version, update it to another specific version and also how to remove the package from the system.
I will also cover the GUI tools available in Linux Mint for updating the system and various packages available in the repos. I will cover the update manager, software manager, and the synaptic package managers found in Linux Mint and other Debian based distros.
I will not be going over how to install and manage packages for non Debian based systems such as those found in Arch Linux, Red Hat, Gentoo, and BSD based systems. I will cover those in separate videos I will make on those distributions in the future!
