The Last Hurrah?

It is important to understand how the American DREAM coming out of World War Two got hijacked by the billionaires and corporations of the late 1940s/early 1950s. Franklin D. Roosevelt knew it, hence trying to publish his Second Bill of Rights. Harry S. Truman knew it, as did Dwight D. Eisenhower, and both warned in stark terms what was happening.

Richard Nixon was the establishment darling... the 1960s apologist for corporate crony-capitalism, backed by the arsenal of wealth. JFK was the first post-War President to challenge the entrenched paradigm and he was killed before he could challenge it. His brother, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, all three assassinated in defense of the unchecked corporate feudal power.

It started way before Donald Trump. The propaganda machine has been churning from the beginning, pitting ‘us’ against ‘them.’ They’ve done it so insidiously that most people don’t know it. We start out as little kids saying the Pledge of Allegiance which shows our devotion to this idea of America and all the great things it supposedly stands for and to question that is deemed unpatriotic.

We grew up think socialism was evil. In parts of Europe we see how much better they had it than Americans in regard to healthcare, employee rights, and social services. We start to realize that Americans were getting shafted.

Americans are taught that we are the BEST - the GREATEST and to question that to most is shocking and insulting. We sneer at other countries because they aren’t as big, so-called rich or have the same military might as us, because that’s what we have been programmed to think is important... power and wealth.

We’re taught that ‘you can be anything you want’ in America if you just work hard enough, when in reality, it’s a big fat lie. Sure some strike it rich, but they are definitely the outliers as opposed to the norm. Nonetheless, the working man and woman still think they are on their way to ‘success’ (wealth) in pursuit of the ever elusive ‘American Dream’ and the only way to achieve that is through capitalism. Let the big guys pay fewer taxes so they can pay us more (which they don’t) and create more jobs. After all, those guys are millionaires and billionaires, and if anyone should know how to achieve wealth, it is they.

People are now being forced, to open their eyes. It's changing and changing fast! Imperialism isn't working anymore, and Donald Trump isn't fooling anyone, anymore.
