Burning wood for bathing and cooking is a major cause of deforestation and fuel poverty through much of Central America, and the smoke from open fires is one of the main causes of death, especially in rural women and children. I teamed up with some people from MIT, D-Labs, and IDIN to develop and deploy an efficient and safe wood burner which uses 80% less wood to produce more heat and about 90% less smoke, makeable for almost free from recycled materials using very basic hand tools.
