Hackers: Wizards of the Electronic Age (PBS, 1985)

This short documentary provides an overview of some topics discussed at the inaugural Hackers Conference in Sausalito, California in 1984. The Hackers Conference was originally created by Stewart Brand,Whole Earth Catalog, and The Point Foundation, and still takes place. Legends such as Steve Wozniak, Andy Hertzfeld, a young Richard Stallman shares the idea of the free software movement, and others speak. The documentary aired on PBS in 1985, and was produced by KQED in San Francisco. It was directed by Fabrice Florin.
