Solving Quadratic Equations by Completing the Square

In this tutorial, we solve five quadratic equation problems by completing the square. This technique can be used pretty much for any quadratic equation that you may encounter.

All equations shown are in the Standard Form: ax² + bx + c = 0. You should be able to rearrange equations to get to this form.

PROBLEMS 0:58 x² + 10x + 21 = 0 5:04 x² - 2x - 8 = 0 7:44 4x² + 8x + 3 = 0 11:07 x² + 4x - 3 = 0 13:58 2x² + 10x = 0
