Nintendo Paying for 3DS Exploits Now?! - My Thoughts on the 3DS Bug Bounty Program
MrMario2011
HackerOne announced on December 5, 2016 that it now has a Nintendo 3DS related bug bounty program which has been designed to entice modders/hackers/reverse engineers to submit any exploits they find privately to HackerOne in the hopes of being paid! The benefit of this is that now people discovering exploits in the 3DS can now get paid for their work, however this means that the expliots must remain private and are then patched through upcoming system software updates. Some people might think that you can take the money and then release the exploit, but there would have to be an agreement to keep any private exploits private in order to get paid and to avoid any legal trouble.
The downside to this is that now fewer exploits might be released within the 3DS homebrew community as people now have a choice: release the exploit, keep it private, or keep it private AND get paid? We might see less exploits come to fruition in the near future...
