How to Net Install Mikrotik 411ah

To perform a net install of MikroTik RouterOS on a MikroTik RB411AH router, follow these steps:
Before you begin Before starting the net install process, make sure you have the following:
- A working TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol) server on your network.
- The latest version of MikroTik RouterOS for your RB411AH router. You can download it from the MikroTik website.
Step 1: Prepare the TFTP server
- Install and configure a TFTP server on your computer or server in the same network as the RB411AH router.
- Place the downloaded RouterOS installation package in the TFTP server's directory, usually named
tftpboot
.
Step 2: Connect the RB411AH to the network
- Connect the RB411AH router to your network using an Ethernet cable.
- Power on the router and wait for it to complete the boot process.
Step 3: Enter the boot menu
- Connect to the RB411AH router using a serial cable or SSH connection.
- As the router starts booting up, interrupt the process by pressing any key to enter the boot menu.
Step 4: Set the IP address
- In the boot menu, select the "e" option to enter the IP settings.
- Configure the router's IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS settings. For example:
- IP Address: 192.168.1.2
- Netmask: 255.255.255.0
- Gateway: 192.168.1.1
- DNS: 8.8.8.8
Step 5: Set the boot server
- In the boot menu, select the "o" option to set the boot server.
- Enter the IP address of the TFTP server where the RouterOS installation package is located. For example, if the TFTP server's IP address is 192.168.1.10:

with the version number.
Step 6: Start the net install process
- In the boot menu, select the "i" option to start the net install process.
- Wait for the RB411AH router to download the RouterOS installation package from the TFTP server.
- Once the installation is complete, the router will automatically reboot.
Step 7: Configure the RB411AH After the router reboots and starts running the newly installed RouterOS, you can configure it by accessing it through the default IP address of 192.168.88.1 with a web browser or via SSH.
