Boom mounted LCD Monitor from old laptop monitor
Mikey's Lab
Do you have an old laptop, maybe it is broken, maybe it is just old. Here is an awesome way to get some more use out of the old hardware, and keep some tech trash out of the landfill.
Whenever I am working on a project with a Raspberry Pi or anything else that has an HDMI output, I inevitably, end up with a LCD sitting on my bench, taking up a lot of real estate and just plain getting in the way. So the need I am trying to fill with this project is to have a monitor with HDMI, composite, VGA and DVI available on my bench at all times, without it taking any space on my bench.
Today we are building a boom mounted lcd screen salvaged from a laptop
So first off lets take a look at the tools we will need for this project.
Precision screw drivers Dremel or hack saw with a metal cutting blade 3D Printer (or your local library might have one) Wrenches Hot glue gun
Now, onto the parts.
Laptop LCD 4 3D printed frame corners 3D printed controller board mount 3D printed button panel mount 20 1/4-20 nuts 2 1/4-20 threaded rods Brass female mic fitting 12v 2.5 amp power supply HDMI cable
