This video shows the FREE Smart-Object Photoshop PSD Files that come with the download of the HCWBTSGM Colorizer, and showing how to load a new file into the smart-object container and change the canvas sizes, then save the smart-object to update the colorizer layers.
In this video I compare how the smart-object files work vs. using the actions, and why I still prefer to use the actions - they handle transparency automatically and the image size and canvas size don't need to be changed around. Also the 6-hues set is rather limited in working with most images, and the smart-object files are not capable of the post-colorizer smart-detection filters like the actions. I show how trying to make a 6-Hues x 4-Tones Smart-Object file really makes the file too large to handle quickly when making adjustments to the colors, so it is not something I provide as a downloadable file.
The introduction to comparing smart-object processing of this kind of color adjustment and splitting of an image, to the step-by-step actions, helps me to begin showing the power of directly processing an image with per-pixel algorithms in code on the GPU, which provides a more real-time type of start as well as making adjustments. I will begin showing how I used a program called Processing after working with the step-by-step layer-blending mode techniques in photoshop, learning the math behind the color models like RGB, HSB, and HWB, and the layer blend modes math, then a per-pixel image processing example in the program to discover how to write my own image processing algorithms. This explores color and image processing on a deeper level so it will be shown in future videos that focus on that. Other videos will still explore all the uses of the Colorizer and other Free actions I have available, as well as general photoshop and graphics training, Illustrator, and video programs like After Effects and Resolume, as well as some fun music and other topics.
