How to read a calculus word problem

A world problem is like a game of Where's Waldo. Hidden somewhere within the swill is an actual question. A request for information. Before you can solve the problem, you need to know what the solution will look like. This problem is taken from Calculus Made Easy, page 114 (free download here: https://bit.ly/EasyCalculus).
