Wow, this went sideways way faster than I expected. I thought this would be a quick examination of some basic statistics, until I realized there was something seriously wrong with one of the tables.
The appendix of the book covers Rothbard's concept of the "Private Product" and provides some statistics and math to derive the various "Private Products" and show that the government became an increasingly large part of the economy during 1931 and 1932 especially.
The thing is, Table 6 in the book is just plain wrong. It shows government receipts instead of expenditures, exactly the same as Table 7.
Fortunately, we can re-derive Table 6 from Tables 4 and 5, and show that the results match with some of the entries in Table 8.
