On Tuesday 22nd September 2015, with Wamberal Lake (50 km North of Sydney Australia) at its peak height, and heavy rains on the way, the local authority decided to open a channel between the lagoon and the ocean in order to release some of the water. The rushing outgoing water forms standing waves, much to the delight of the local grommets 9young surfers), who make the most of these waves with their boogie boards and foamies.
