Linux Audio Issues

Linux audio went strange on me today. My mic is not being heard by OBS or Zoom, even though the signal is routed properly through Cadence and Catia, and it can be heard in Tracktion Waveform (although the signal that reaches Waveform is really low for some reason).

I haven't got the time or patience for this kind of troubleshooting today so I have a choice to make. I can either install Garuda or Fedora on another drive and try out pipewire for a while, or I can use the opportunity to try out Windows 11 for a few weeks. It'd be interesting to compare that with my years of experience on Mac and Linux. Right now I'm gravitating towards the latter option, but we'll see how I feel tomorrow when I have some time to do something about it…
