How to install a new Linux kernel Quick & Easy

Reports on the death of Canonical’s Ubuntu Mainline Kernel PPA have been greatly exaggerated and Ubuntu users can now install the latest Linux kernel series on their machines. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to achieve that.

Step 1: Adding the PPA and Updating : Open the Terminal. Type: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cappelikan/ppa and hit Enter. Next, update your system by typing: sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade. Installing the Mainline Kernels Tool. Now, install the Mainline Kernels tool by typing: sudo apt install -y mainline. Using the Mainline Kernels Tool.
