Reports on the death of Canonical’s Ubuntu Mainline Kernel PPA have been greatly exaggerated and Ubuntu users can now install the latest Linux kernel series on their machines. Here’s a quick tutorial on how to achieve that.
Step 1: Adding the PPA and Updating : Open the Terminal. Type: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:cappelikan/ppa and hit Enter. Next, update your system by typing: sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade. Installing the Mainline Kernels Tool. Now, install the Mainline Kernels tool by typing: sudo apt install -y mainline. Using the Mainline Kernels Tool. Go to your applications menu and open the Mainline Kernels tool. Find the Linux Kernel you want. Click on it and hit the "Install" button. Reboot. Wait for the installation to finish. Once done, reboot your computer.
