How To Make Music Like Music For Airports - In Reaper - a short tutorial
Erick McNerney
In this video I show you how to write something like the music from the album Music For Airports: Ambient 1 by Brian Eno - specifically in the Reaper DAW.
The method is somewhat generative, but not strictly. You are basically combining looped phrases and having them repeat so that they do not start and stop at the same time - in this way, and in the context of them being played together, the track never sounds the same throughout its duration. However, if you isolate a single track or phrase, it does loop the same. There are no rules though, so you could change a loop and play it differently later on. The sky's the limit.
Here's a longer, more in depth tutorial on using this method: https://youtu.be/ylNAaB4YW5c ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLQZqZ3_EA0
