Anish Sarkar, a 3-year-old boy, is the youngest FIDE-ranked chess player In the World!
It all started with his maternal uncle gifting him a chessboard during Durga Puja when he was only a 2-year-old baby boy!
It was a positive outcome for Anish, who quickly learned the rules of chess from YouTube!
The family first witnessed Anish's chess genius while returning from Agra on the train. During this train journey, Anish defeated an older kid playing chess on a smartphone over the internet!
In March 2024, the family enrolled Anish in Dibyendu Barua's chess academy in Kolkata.
Within months, Anish debuted in an under-9 state-level chess tournament and ranked 24 with a creditable 5.5 out of 8 points, defeating two rated players.
Former world champion Magnus Carlsen was five when he started chess, and his predecessor, Indian chess icon Vishwanathan Anand, learned chess at six.
A few days ago, he met the icon chess celebrity Magnus Carlsen in a grand program in front of a massive gathering.
