What is Ohm's law? Learn about the Ohm's law equation, why it's useful for circuit analysis and design, and why it doesn't always work.

In this video, we verify Ohm's law with a simple circuit and an oscilloscope, then look at a practical example of what Ohm's law is used for in the real world by lighting (and destroying) an LED with too much current.

Voltage, current, and resistance (/impedance) are all tied together by "Ohm's Law," an empirical law that's useful for basic circuits.

In the real world, though, Ohm's Law doesn't always work - like when a Jacob's ladder's leads have too big of a gap and won't arc. There's still a voltage and a resistance present, but current is zero. Or, the terminals of a battery.
