So this is a great question. I'll answer this question kind of in two parts with the first part addressing the direction of IT and the second part comparing the CS degree with the IT degree.
So as far as the direction IT is headed, You're very astute in notice that IT is definitely changing and evolving. I guess it kind of always has been evolving obviously, but naturally things are getting much more complex as we continue to stand on the shoulders of giants. That is, we as humans continue to leverage and build upon the complex technology that was created by the smart people that came before us. Some of this technology might include AI/ML, blockchain applications, automation, and bit data analytics, that is, Analyzing large datasets to derive some kind of previously unknown intelligence.
