2nd Grade Math 6.10, Regrouping with Zeros, 3-digit Subtraction
JoAnn's School
When the minuend contains a 0 in the tens place of a 3-digit number, we can regroup to have more ones by first regrouping 1 hundred as 10 tens . We model, draw, solve regrouping with zeros using a quick drawing. We show an example of 3-digit subtraction with regrouping when the minuend is a hundreds number containing 2 zeros. We introduce combining place values to subtract. We solve a word problem that involves 3-digit subtraction with regrouping and zeros.
