2nd Grade Math 1.1, Even and Odd Numbers
JoAnn's School
We can use counters to make pairs to see if a number is even or odd. If we make pairs using all of the counters, the number is even. If one counter is left over, the number is odd. We see a pattern of even and odd with counting numbers. When we skip-count by twos, all the numbers are even. For two-digit numbers and greater, we can tell if the number is even or odd by the number in the ones place. If there is an even number in the ones place, the number is even. If there is an odd number in the ones place, the number is odd.
