In this video I show how I prep Cloth diapers by boiling.
This method is ONLY for natural fiber Diapers and Inserts like cotton, Hemp and Bamboo. This method is NOT for synthetic materials like Microfiber or any diapers with snaps, buttons, elastic or hook & Loop (velcro)!!!!
How to: When doing this method, I use a squirt of dishsoap, I prefer "Dawn" , but all I had was this "Ajax". I let my diapers boil for several hours, stirring occasionally and adding water as needed, DO NOT LEAVE DIAPERS UNATTENDED! A fire could start and ruin your diapers or worse. After awhile the water should change color and turn brownish and have a slight smell of Oatmeal or wheat to it, this is completely normal and is the natural oils, dirt and other "grime" from the manufacturing process being pulled out of the fibers.. Once the diapers are fully boiled, you can pull the diapers out using tongs and place in a bowl or bin or you can wait for them to cool before removing. Always wash the diapers once after boiling, with the regular amount of powder detergent you'd use for a soiled load. Wash on hot and dry on hot. Once fully dried you can test the absorbency of the diapers by pouring a glass of water on the diapers. The water should absorb immediately. If it doesn't, further prepping is necessary.
These diapers were Green Mountain Diapers Cloth-eez Organic Cotton Prefolds. Available at greenmountaindiapers.com
