Building a Slideshow in Svelte with Plenti

JavaScript is more essential to the web today than ever before, but supporting a complex toolchain can get in your way and make you less productive.

Plenti (https://github.com/plentico/plenti) takes a new approach to building JS apps by cutting out the bundlers, hitting the compiler directly in V8, and building scaffolding in Go to give an extremely fast and consistent developer experience. It uses Svelte templates on the frontend so you get a reactive component architecture that's lightweight and fast. The build process runs very quickly so you get real-time updates and you don't need any tools or configuration to get started - NodeJS and NPM are optional.

In this talk, Jim, the primary developer for the project, will walk through the architecture choices and explain how Plenti works at a high level. Then he'll discuss plans for future releases and take questions / feedback from the group.

Jim Fisk is a Framingham based web developer and the creator of Plentico. He started the JAMstack Boston meetup in 2017 where he has enjoyed teaching workshops on topics such as Hugo and NetlifyCMS while learning from others about new tools that make up this rapidly evolving ecosystem.
