Bernina Fix - No Slow Speed - Runs Full Speed Only - Type 289 Foot Controller Repair
In Stitches Sewing Machines & Overlockers
If your Bernina sewing machine only runs at full speed and you have the Type 289 foot controller then this video may help you repair it yourself.
If you have this problem with your machine, you may notice there is no slower speeds and no acceleration ramp up. When you put your foot flat on the controller the machine takes off at full speed.
Generally this is just a failed or failing capacitor which is fairly easily replaced with a readily available capacitor. I also show what the adjuster screw on the bottom of the controller does.
