Polygon MATIC - Still Relevant after Ethereum 2.0?

Polygon MATIC is a Layer 2 scaling solution for smart contract platforms that is currently focused on Ethereum. Once Ethereum upgrades and their transactions become faster and cheaper under a Proof of Stake system, then will Polygon MATIC still be relevant?

Polygon MATIC is scaling their layer 2 solution as well to be able to handle this excess volume from Ethereum, as well as upgrading their interoperability through the use of bridges.
