Has A Game with Dated Mechanics Halted Your Enjoyment of It?

Has a game being outdated or its gameplay mechanics feeling dated stopped you from enjoying a game. This is a problem that I’ve ran into with the first Shin Megami Tensei Game. While its not a bad game it has some mechanics missing that I'm having hard time getting past.
