How to Create a Skill Tree System in Godot 3.2 (Part 1 of 2, UI) | Player Development Series
Game Development Center
In this Godot Tutorial, I will teach you how to create a skill tree system in Godot 3.2. In this first part, we will tackle the UI. Bring in the Skill Icons, the Skill Connectors, and add some preparation for Skill Unlocking effects later on.
Many RPG games and even Shooters these days have a form of a skill tree that you can unlock to develop your player character. Setting up such a skill tree can be challenging. This Godot Tutorial is focussed on getting as many effects and UI done through the use of the Godot UI node system instead of writing a lot of code. We end up with a versatile UI system that can easily be recycled to create many various skill trees for various characters or classes while retaining a standard format to handle logically in the code.
Don't forget to subscribe to be notified when part 2 comes out in a couple of days.
