In the winter of 2023, we spent almost four weeks in the least visited parts of the already less mainstream countries to visit in mainland south-east Asia, as it's commonly referred today.

Cambodia gets a lot of visitors but more than 90% of them are at Angkor Wat. But in this series we'll spend more time in the capital city and in the Vietnamese floating village, the latter being important because it still functions as intended and comes from a mentality you wouldn't exactly expect to find in this region.

Meanwhile, Laos attracts tourists mainly for its natural landscapes which, for the purposes of this channel in general and this series in particular, is the least interesting part.

Yeah, you get to walk the elephant. It can be fun, but it's politically uninteresting, except to note that in this communist country, 100% of the activity related to nature conservation is done by the private sector. Which is no surprise once you understand how the Laotian Democratic People's Republic actually functions.

Yes, there's red flags everywhere, but with de facto state religion and very chill people.

With the risk of upsetting everyone, DPRL is how DRPK could've looked like without the madmen.

But then again, in this series, pissing off everyone will be one of the objectives.
