80s Software Secrets on a Dusty Floppy
Floppy Deep Dive
Welcome back to another episode of "What's on the Floppy?" Today, we dive into four classic Commodore 64 games, each with its own unique flair and challenges.
First, we explore the Wild West in Kane, a budget game by Mastertronic. Despite its fun mini-games like shooting birds and riding horses, the controls can be quite frustrating. I give it a C+ for its enjoyable yet flawed gameplay.
Next up is Elektra Glide, another Mastertronic title. This futuristic racing game takes you through different zones like America and Australia, but the controls make it hard to avoid obstacles. It’s visually interesting but ultimately frustrating, earning a C from me.
Then we have The Comic Game, featuring Donald Duck. This unofficial game from Ducksoft is a real challenge with its poor graphics, sound, and controls. Collecting apples has never been this hard or unfulfilling! I rate it a D.
Finally, we tackle Pirates of the Barbary Coast. This game had potential but falls short with repetitive gameplay. However, the cannon-loading sequence is a hidden gem. Watch as I demonstrate how to load and fire the cannons—something not covered in any manual or YouTube video. This unique aspect bumps it up to a C+.
Join me as I navigate through these retro titles, sharing honest reviews and personal insights. Don't miss out on this nostalgic journey through C64 history!
